About

Autolaser is an intelligent firearm-mounted laser system that automatically activates based on motion and orientation, eliminating the need for manual switches under stress. Its patented movement-tracking algorithm distinguishes between rapid deployment and controlled handling, enabling instant activation in urgent situations while remaining discreet during deliberate positioning. The system allows users to operate naturally across multiple tactical ready positions without unintentionally revealing their location, while configurable activation and deactivation angles provide adaptability to different preferences and operational contexts. This results in faster response times, improved situational control, and a more intuitive user experience.

We translate the technological concept into a robust, ergonomic, and production-ready solution. Through close collaboration with its creators, the project achieved a refined and highly effective final product that balances performance, usability, and reliability.

Context

Challenges

The Autolaser operates at the intersection of electronics, mechanical engineering, ballistic performance, and regulatory compliance. Every constraint was real and non-negotiable: the housing had to survive repeated recoil, maintain laser zero, seal against water and debris, fit standard holsters, and comply with firearms regulations — all within a compact, ergonomic envelope.

No decision existed in isolation. A change to the housing geometry affected the PCB layout. A change to the mounting system affected the attachment interface. Managing that chain of dependencies required continuous re-evaluation across every component — and a willingness to rebuild from scratch when the trade-offs demanded it.

The objective was clear: translate a proven technological concept into a product that could be manufactured reliably, patented successfully, and trusted in the field.

Our Contribution

The technological concept and the patented algorithm were developed by the client. Our role was to turn that invention into a product — one that could survive the mechanical demands of real-world use, be produced efficiently at scale, and protect the underlying IP through precise patent illustrations.

That meant rebuilding the architecture from scratch, managing a continuous chain of interdependent design decisions, and delivering a complete Design Manufacturing Package ready for tooling and production.

Nothing from the original design survived — the product was rebuilt from the ground up. Every component was evaluated against four simultaneous criteria: functionality, ergonomics, aesthetics, and manufacturing feasibility.

  • Part consolidation: Reduced component and fastener count to simplify assembly and lower production cost.
  • Structural integrity: The housing was engineered to be waterproof and shock-resistant, maintaining laser zero through repeated firing cycles.
  • Manufacturing optimization: All parts designed to comply with injection molding and sheet metal die-making guidelines — no features that look good in CAD but create problems on the factory floor.
