Context

Challenges

The client came with a clear list of functional requirements and strong convictions about performance — stability above all else, generous payload, and practical usability for long fishing sessions. The aesthetic and technical execution, however, were undefined.

The reference products that met the stability requirements were, without exception, visually unappealing. The challenge was to design a kayak that could carry serious load and inspire confidence on the water without looking like a floating platform — and to do it within the constraints of rotomolding production.

Complete Ecosystem

The project extended beyond the kayak itself. The full scope included specialized hatches, a rear tankwell fish crate, and a two-wheeled transport trolley — a cohesive accessory system that raised the product’s perceived and functional value for the end user.

Our Contribution

The client defined the performance priorities and brought deep knowledge of the Argentine fishing market. Our role was to translate those requirements into a product — one that could be manufactured profitably at scale, compete aesthetically against established brands, and deliver a user experience that would build loyalty beyond the first purchase.

That meant designing the hull, the deck system, the accessories, and the molds — from first concept to production-ready geometry.

The client brought two reference kayaks and an extensive list of requirements — functional priorities, things to avoid, and strong convictions about performance. The brief was dense but coherent. From the first conversation, a clear design strategy emerged that allowed development to move forward while ideas continued to be refined in parallel.

Design

The design was built from the ground up to outperform the competition. The client’s functional requirements defined the boundaries — stability, payload, and usability. Everything else was rethought: hull geometry, deck layout, ergonomics, and the visual language that would make the Escualo recognizable on the water.

The result was a product that worked better than the references and created a genuine emotional connection with its users.

Rotomolding

Hull geometry was designed to ensure consistent wall thickness and clean mold release across all components. The molds themselves were also developed as part of the project — closing the gap between digital CAD and physical production without ambiguity at the tooling stage.
